NHS 111
When to use it

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

Call 111 if:

  • you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency
  • you think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service
  • you don't know who to call or you don't have a GP to call
  • you need health information or reassurance about what to do next

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Due to contractual changes by NHS England thru our CCG all Practices now have to form groups for extended access to their patients, Ashfield Surgery has joined with other local surgeries to form a HUB to meet these requirements.

The HUB is held at Ley Hill Surgery, 228 Lichfield Rd, Sutton Coldfield B74 2UE.  These appointments (Mon-Fri 6.30-8.00pm; Sat&Sun 9am-2pm; Bank Holidays 9.30am - 12.30pm) are for routine problems and you can book into these by calling our appointments line.

PLEASE NOTE:  These appointments are not for Urgents or Emergencies - this service remains with our current out of hours provider- Badger or NHS111.
